Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 Pendant
By Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade system in 1925–1926 in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, a partnership that lasted until 1967. His aim was glare-free light with soft shadows and precise light control. The PH 4/3 Metal Pendant, launched in 1966, follows this system based on the logarithmic spiral. It is a simplified version of a design from 1929, which won PH the highest distinction at the Barcelona World Exhibition. The metal pendant was produced in various sizes and colours, with a white or gold-painted underside to create diffuse or warmer light.
